The Friend of Children award was created in 1992 to recognize outstanding volunteers in the communities represented by the districts within the NCESD’s four-county region. Recipients of the award make extraordinary contributions to local schools, not for fame or notoriety, but because that is simply who they are as a community member.
Rosie Buhl-The Brewster School District extends heartfelt gratitude to Rosie Buhl for her extraordinary support and dedication to students in need over the past 20 years. Rosie's selfless efforts go above and beyond as she purchases dolls for students in need and personally delivers them to schools in our area. Her network of friends, skilled in sewing and knitting, contributes by creating clothes, blankets, and other items, enhancing the experience for the children who receive these thoughtful gifts. Each doll is uniquely themed, ranging from cowgirls to firefighters, adding a personal touch to every delivery. Rosie's work in our school in Brewster is truly remarkable and has made a significant impact on the lives of students. She is not only a valued member of our community but also a beacon of kindness and generosity, exemplifying the spirit of compassion that uplifts those around her.
